How can I know if correct DVD playback filter are installed ?
If you have a DVD ROM drive on your computer, Windows normally installed a small utility called DVDPlay. To know if your computer can successfully run DVDSubber just try this program and see if you can playback DVD with it.
This executable is called "DVDPlay.exe" just look for it on your system hard disk. If you don't have this program you can normally find it on your Windows CD-ROM.

In case there is two of more DVD player installed on my computer, How to choose which one DVDSubber is going to use ?
Directshow filter choose rather randomly the filters it uses, most of the time it's working perfectly even when the filters are mixed for example the powerDVD filter for video but the WinDVD filter for audio.
However on some computer having two player installed can cause conflict.
With DVDSubber you can choose which filter you want to use to playback a DVD, in the configuration screen go to "Filter selection", uncheck the "Use automatic filter selection" and manually select the filter you want DVDSubber to use.
Another way to do it is to manualy unregister the filters you don't want to use. To unregister a filter type : regsvr32 filtername.ax /u
WinDVD filters name are : iviaudio.ax ivivideo.ax PowerDVD filters name are : claud.ax clvsd.ax
Normally the player can work even with it's filter unregistered

How do I change the region under Windows 2000/XP
To change the region under Windows 2000/XP, start DVDGenie and with it destroy the Windows region registry key then reboot. Once Windows has restarted open the "Hardware manager" open the properties of your DVD rom drive and change the region to the one you want to use. Or if you have it installed playback a region protected DVD with DVDPlay and it will ask you to change the region.

When I use PowerDVD/WinDVD/Any other player everything work however when I try with DVDSubber it tell me that the region is wrong.
Native DVD player use their own region settings however DVDSubber use the windows region setting and they can be setted to differents region make sure that the Windows one is correct.

DVDSubber refuse to playback a DVD, crash after the FBI warning, the playback is choppy.
This may be caused by differents things :
Windows is set to region 0 Windows region system can be setted to region 0 however most of the DVD filters are incompatible with this setting and can refuse to playback the DVD and play it incorrectly. Make sure windows region setting is set to the correct region of the disk you want to playback. (Even if the disk is all region it may refuse to playback if Windows is in region 0)
You are using mixed filters If you have(or had) more than one DVD player installed filter installed Directshow may be using mixed filters (Two filters from two different player) it's explained elsewhere in the FAQ how to resolve this kind of problem.
You installed/reinstalled/upgrade DirectX after your DVD player You must uninstall you DVD player and reinstall it everytime you change someting with directX else your filters wont be working correctly anymore.
(Thanks to trodas for this tips)
